In sandbox, payments go through a payment simulator instead of real card networks and banks. You decide whether each payment is accepted, declined or expired, so you can test every order outcome without moving real money.
The simulator only runs in sandbox. Production payments always go to the real payment provider.

Enable simulation

You configure payment simulation yourself from the Partner Dashboard on your sandbox account.
  1. Sign in to the sandbox Partner Dashboard.
  2. Open your account settings and turn on Payment simulation.
Once it’s on, every payment on your sandbox account uses the simulator.

Card and other hosted payments

After the user is redirected to checkout and picks a payment method, the sandbox shows a simulator page in place of the real payment provider. Pick the outcome you want to test from the status dropdown.

Bank transfers

For push payments the user sends themselves (SEPA, ACH, wire, PIX, UPI, SPEI and similar), the user cannot finish the payment on the checkout page. You settle it yourself from the Partner Dashboard:
  1. Open the order under Ramp Orders.
  2. Choose Settle Transfer.
  3. Pick an outcome: Accepted, Rejected, Failed, Canceled or Expired.
The action is only shown while the payment is still pending.

Magic amounts

If a payment is settled without an outcome chosen, the simulator reads the outcome from the payment amount: An outcome you pick on the simulator page or in the Partner Dashboard always takes priority over the amount.

What each outcome does to the order

Orders that are not paid within 15 minutes of the user confirming them also expire on their own. The full list of statuses is on Order Status.
