# Step 4: Redirect the User

> Send the user to Rampnow's hosted checkout and bring them back

<Note>
  Open the `redirectUrl` from Create Order in the user's browser. Rampnow takes over from there and sends the user back to your `returnUrl` when done.
</Note>

## Open the checkout

This works the same for buy and sell orders.

<CodeGroup>
  ```javascript Same tab theme={null}
  window.location.href = redirectUrl;
  ```

  ```javascript New tab theme={null}
  window.open(redirectUrl, "_blank", "noopener");
  ```
</CodeGroup>

On mobile, open `redirectUrl` in the system browser or an in-app browser tab (SFSafariViewController / Custom Tabs) rather than a bare WebView. KYC needs camera access.

## What the user does on the hosted page

<Tabs>
  <Tab title="Onramp (buy)">
    1. Email + OTP verification
    2. KYC (only if the user isn't already verified)
    3. Payment with the selected or chosen payment method

    Details the user already gave you (name, email, wallet address, …) are pre-filled from the order.

    **After checkout:** Rampnow settles the payment and sends the crypto to the destination wallet. The order moves through its statuses and you receive a webhook on each change.
  </Tab>

  <Tab title="Offramp (sell)">
    1. Email + OTP verification
    2. KYC (only if the user isn't already verified)
    3. Payout account confirmation
    4. Crypto deposit to the address shown, with on-chain confirmation

    Details the user already gave you (name, email, bank account, …) are pre-filled from the order.

    **After checkout:** once the deposit is confirmed on-chain, Rampnow converts it to fiat and pays out to the bank account. You receive a webhook on each status change.
  </Tab>
</Tabs>

## When the user comes back

When the user lands on your `returnUrl`, **don't treat the redirect as proof of success**. Confirm the final state from the webhook or by polling the order (next step).

<Tip>
  For a step-by-step view of what the user sees, see the [User Flow](/quickstart/ramp/flow).
